We are incredibly proud to announce that Thum Co. was recently featured in a Fox 4 News story highlighting a significant infrastructure project in Clewiston, Florida. Our team was tasked with the demolition of the old Herbert Hoover Dike access bridge, a critical step in opening up Lake Okeechobee access for boaters and enabling future residential development.

A Project for the Community’s Future

The project involved more than just demolition. Our crews performed precision grading of the canal and installed durable rip-rap along the banks to ensure long-term stability. As our president, Aaron Thum, explained to Fox 4 News, this work is pivotal for the region’s growth.

“We actually demolished that because in the future this is going to be a navigable canal. Removing the bridge opens the canal outside the dike to Lake Okeechobee, making way for boat access to new homes planned upstream.”- Aaron Thum, President of Thum Co. (via Fox 4 News)

Precision with High-Tech Equipment

To ensure every aspect of the project was completed with the utmost accuracy, our team utilized state-of-the-art GPS and sonar technology on our heavy equipment. This allowed us to perform the underwater dredging and grading with millimeter precision, guaranteeing the canal meets exact engineering specifications for safe navigation.

We are honored to contribute our expertise to projects that enhance our local communities. You can view the full story on the Fox 4 News website.
