Clearing the Way for Lake Okeechobee Access
We recently mobilized our team to Clewiston for a high-impact demolition project focused on restoring waterway navigation. The task involved the strategic removal of an old bridge structure that had become a significant bottleneck for the local community. By clearing this debris, we’ve successfully reopened direct access to Lake Okeechobee, providing a much-needed win for local boaters and ensuring the waterway is safe and navigable once again.

Project Highlights:
- Structural Demolition: Safely dismantled and removed concrete and steel bridge remains obstructing the canal.
- Debris Management: Utilized heavy excavators to clear the waterway and prevent future navigation hazards.
- Environmental Stewardship: Conducted all removals with precision to minimize sediment disturbance in the delicate Lake O ecosystem.
- Access Restoration: Re-established the primary channel connection for recreational boaters and emergency vessels.

Supporting New Residential Development
Beyond improving water access, this project serves as a foundational step for the area’s future growth. Removing the aged infrastructure was essential to prepare the site for upcoming residential home developments along the water. At Thum Co., we specialize in these complex transitions—handling the heavy demolition and site clearing required to turn obstructed land into prime real estate. Whether it’s marine access or land preparation, we take pride in doing the heavy lifting that builds Florida’s communities.
