Pool Demolition in Royal Palm Beach, FL

Thum Co. Contractors is a state certified building contractor (FL CBC#1270161) based in West Palm Beach. A homeowner in Royal Palm Beach wanted an old vinyl-lined pool gone — pool, tile, and the deck around it — with the yard filled back in and graded flat. We handled the pool demolition start to finish. Here’s how it went.

Our pool demolition in Royal Palm Beach

This was a concrete shell with a vinyl liner, a tile band at the waterline, and a poured deck around the whole thing. We pulled the deck and coping first. Then we brought the excavator in and broke the shell apart, working down from the shallow end. Once it was broken up, the concrete and rebar came out in pieces, got loaded up, and hauled off. None of it stays on site.

We take the whole pool out

We don’t do the shortcut version, where a crew knocks the walls in and buries them in place. That kind of partial fill can settle over time and cause drainage problems down the road. It can also become a headache when you go to sell the house. So we take the entire structure out. It costs a little more up front, but it’s the right way to do it. Pool work is one part of the demolition we do across Palm Beach County. Want it done right? Call (561) 366-2050.

Backfill and final grade

With the shell out and the debris gone, we backfilled the hole with clean fill. We compacted it in lifts so it won’t settle. Then we graded the whole area flat. So when we left, it was ready for sod, or whatever the owner wanted to do with the yard. We did the same thing on a pool removal in Lake Park not long before this one.
